Life isn't exactly going to plan for young Lad, who finds himself caught up in the trials and tribulations of O'Twankey's Laundry. But when a mysterious lamp and its rather unconventional occupant, Genie Mac, enter the picture, things take a decidedly magical turn! With the lovely Jade catching Lad's eye, the scheming Don King causing trouble and the Westport Task Force getting involved, there's no shortage of chaos! Throw in a colourful collection of characters, gangsters, ghosts, the mischievous Abu and you've got all the ingredients for a pantomime adventure like no other. Will Lad find love and fortune? Will the villains get their comeuppance? And can Genie Mac work his magic before everything goes spectacularly wrong? Packed with music, laughter, colourful characters, local humour and plenty of audience participation, “A Lad in Westport” promises festive fun for the whole family - Oh yes, it does! This much-loved community pantomime is the biggest production of the Town Hall's calendar year, produced in-house by Westport Town Hall Theatre. Bringing together a cast and crew of over 70 people aged 8 and upwards from across the local community, it celebrates the incredible talent, creativity and community spirit that make this annual production such a special part of the Festive Season in Westport. *Relaxed Performance scheduled for Friday 1st January 2027 at 2.00pm This relaxed performance is designed to make the pantomime more accessible and enjoyable for people with additional needs, including those with autism, learning disabilities or sensory sensitivities, as well as anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed theatre environment. Small adjustments will be made to the production, including softer lighting and reduced sound levels where possible. Audience members are welcome to move around or leave their seats during the performance if they need to. A designated quiet space will also be available outside the auditorium for anyone who may wish to take a break from the performance. Our aim is to create a welcoming, inclusive and comfortable experience so that everyone can enjoy the magic of Panto at Westport Town Hall Theatre.
